Florida protects whistle-blowers in both the public and private sectors. The Public
Whistle-blower's Act provides protection for an employee who discloses information
to an appropriate agency alleging improper use of governmental office, gross waste of
funds or any other abuse or neglect of duty on the part of the employee. The Private
Whistle-blower's Act protects an employee who objects to unlawful acts of his
employer. An employer may not retaliate against an employee who participates in
these protected activities.
